Vitae

Born in Hollywood, CA to a Couturier mother, I began sewing at the age of three. By the time I'd turned 17, I was enjoying the incredible honour of working alongside Mr. Ross Corbin, assistant to Miss Edith Head, peerless costume designer for Paramount Studios in Hollywood. Besides becoming my dear friend and mentor, Ross instilled within me his great love for the Shakespearian Stage ...and its commensurate garment construction.

Returning to the Sunset Strip in 1968, several scholarships to The Art Centre College of Design in Los Angeles allowed me to make Fashion Design & Illustration my praxis of study.  I was their youngest student ever at the time. From there, I proceeded to fly solo, taking on a small opera company, ballroom dance instructors and, with no more assistance than a pattern blocker, a 130-member ballet company. This will age you.

Head Designer through the 1990's for To the Nines Dancewear in Southern California, 2001 found me schlepping my own label to Florida. There, Scally Rags' Spectacular Ballroom Gowns & Naughty little rhinestone-encrusted Tango & Latin Numbers swung both Judges’ & Competitors’ acclaim my way at Dance Competitions spangling the Tampa Bay area.

It's been my joy to design & construct wardrobe for:

Ballet, Theatre & Opera Companies,  Renaissance Faire & Pirate Devotees, Drag & Other Beauty Queens, Ballroom Professionals, Instructors & Students, Swing Dancers & Rock-a-Billy Musicians, Parade Krewes, entire Wedding Parties as well as Hâute Fashion for many the Successful Career Woman!

As a result, Scally Rags have appeared all over the Globe ...without my having to go very far out of my way!
